Finding Time to Exercise
“ Those who do not find time for exercise will have to find time for illness.”
~ Earl of Derby
Let’s face it—we all have busy schedules, with work, school, taking care of children, cooking, cleaning and everything else in between it’s difficult to find time to take a break let alone exercise. However fitness and exercise is a crucial part of living a healthy lifestyle and taking care of your body.
There are some easy practical ways that you can find time to fit some exercise in your busy schedule.
Take the kids with you- If you’re finding it hard to work out because you have young children then opt to take them with you. Try using a jogging stroller to take your little one with you while you work out.
Be active while watching TV- You don’t have to sacrifice watching your favorite TV show in order to work out. You can do both! Instead of just passively watching TV be active! Ride a stationary bike while watching your show or do a stretching routine during the commercial breaks.
Make chores count- We all have chores to do in the house, so why not multi-task and get some exercise while doing it. Mop the floor, or vacuum or scrub the shower at a pace fast enough to get your heart pumping. This is a great way to get some cardio and also burn calories.
Work out at work- If you have a job that requires you to be mostly stationary such as sitting at a computer desk for most of the day, try getting up periodically and doing some stretching routines. This will get your heart rate up a little and also keep you alert.
