New England Patriots Winning Streak Ends; Gronk Injured

The New England Patriots’ dominant winning streak (11-0 before tonight) has ended with a 30-24 defeat in overtime to the Denver Broncos. In a snowstorm battle, the Broncos running back C.J. Anderson scored on a 48 yard run with 12:32 remaining in overtime. It was the Patriots’ first loss since 2014.

The Patriots also lost trusted tight end Rob Gronkowski with 2:49 left in regulation. Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady still managed to drive his team 51 yards in 4 plays and into range for Stephen Gostkowski’s 47-yard field goal that tied it at the end of regulation.

New England won the point toss for overtime but was forced into a three-and-out by a timely sack by Vonn Miller.

As for Gronkowski, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that pending further tests the injury “doesn’t appear to be serious,” was most surprising based on how much pain Gronkowski appeared to be in as he squirmed on the field with the medical staff checking his right knee.
