Adele’s “25” Breaks Sales Records
Adele’s new album “25” has broken the first-week album sales record by selling $3.38 million. The album was projected to sell 2.5 million units after her single “Hello” debut on Nov 20th. The sales made up 41% of all album sales for the week in the US. 49% were physical sales, and 51% were digital.
The album breaks the record long held by NSYNC’s album “No Strings Attached”, which sold 2.5 million units in 2000. Adele’s project is also the first to break the 3-million mark in first-week sales.
The album debuts atop the Billboard 200 chats at #1 and even drew her previous album “21” to #9 on the charts. Already, 25 is the biggest selling album of the year so far (nearly doubling the 1.8 million copies Taylor Swift’s 1989 has moved in 2015).
