NFL Draft Rumors: Travis Hunter to the Browns Could Be Gaining Momentum

With the Tennessee Titans expected to take Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick, all attention now shifts to what the Cleveland Browns will do with their No. 2 selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.

While ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted that the Browns “might” consider Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter, it seems the team is leaning toward a different direction.

“I believe Travis Hunter is the more likely pick at No. 2 today,” Schefter said in a recent episode of his podcast.

Hunter is widely regarded as one of the top talents in the 2025 NFL Draft class. The versatile player excelled both as a receiver and cornerback for Colorado, earning the Heisman after recording 96 receptions, 1,258 yards, 15 touchdowns, 36 tackles, and four interceptions during his final season with the Buffaloes.

Schefter pointed out that the Browns’ growing interest in Hunter stems from two key factors. First, Cleveland’s front office was impressed by his performance at his pro day.

“The Browns watched Hunter on Friday and saw someone who moved like no one else,” Schefter explained.

Second, adding Hunter would give the Browns a dynamic presence at wide receiver, a position Schefter believes the team would prioritize.

“He could play both ways for them, but I think they may see him more as a receiver than a cornerback,” Schefter added.

Originally, the Browns had targeted a quarterback with their No. 2 pick. However, the quarterback they were eyeing is unlikely to be available by then.

“They wanted Cam Ward,” Schefter said. “Cam Ward isn’t going to be there at No. 2.”

With over two weeks still remaining until the draft, Schefter cautioned that Cleveland’s decision could still change.

“Who knows if and when it will shift again before the draft,” Schefter noted.

For now, though, it seems Travis Hunter could be the first non-quarterback selected in 2025.
