Kolton Miller Skips Raiders’ Offseason Program Amid Contract Uncertainty

Veteran left tackle is seeking a new deal as Las Vegas ushers in a new coaching era under Pete Carroll.

The Las Vegas Raiders have begun their voluntary offseason program, but one familiar face was notably absent: left tackle Kolton Miller, a long-standing cornerstone of the franchise who’s seeking a new contract.

No Show in the Desert
Miller, who turns 30 this season, is entering the final year of his current deal and is due $12.2 million in non-guaranteed base salary. His decision to skip the voluntary workouts appears to be contract-related — and though it’s not mandatory, it certainly sends a message to the new regime led by head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek.

GM: No Contract Talk — Publicly
Spytek, speaking at the team’s pre-draft press conference, offered a firm stance on how he’ll handle negotiations in the media:

“We’re not gonna discuss contracts publicly and this is certainly a voluntary part of the offseason program. Guys are free to come and go as they please.”

While downplaying the situation, Spytek didn’t deny that Miller’s absence is noteworthy.

A Steady Force Amid Chaos
Since being selected 15th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, Miller has been a model of consistency on an otherwise ever-changing Raiders roster. He’s played 109 games with 107 starts, becoming a rare stabilizing force on the offensive line. This offseason marks the beginning of his fourth head coaching era in Las Vegas.

Despite a shoulder injury in 2023 that limited him to 13 games — his lowest career total — Miller still earned an 80.6 PFF grade, ranking 13th among all tackles. It was his fourth straight season with a grade above 80, underscoring his consistent value.

What Comes Next?
While there’s no immediate reason for panic — it is a voluntary program — the Raiders have little incentive to let a proven left tackle walk away. History says elite teams keep their blindside protectors happy, and Miller’s résumé speaks for itself.

Whether a new deal materializes before training camp remains to be seen, but for now, Kolton Miller’s contract situation has officially become one of the Raiders’ key offseason storylines.
