Light of the World”: Animated Film to Share Jesus’ Story Through Young John’s Eyes

Sparta, WI (August 15, 2024) – Get ready to experience the life of Jesus in a whole new light! The Salvation Poem Project, a team passionate about sharing the Christian faith through storytelling, is set to release their highly anticipated animated film, “Light of the World,” in theaters nationwide during the summer of 2025.

“Our mission is simple: to share Jesus with the world through song and story,” says Brennan McPherson, the film’s producer and president of The Salvation Poem Project. “We are artists deeply devoted to our faith, and this film is incredibly personal to us. It’s a story about how Jesus can transform even the most broken lives, just like yours and mine.”

Produced with a $20 million budget, “Light of the World” combines cutting-edge 2D animation techniques with captivating storytelling and stunning visuals. Helmed by a powerhouse team of animation veterans, John J. Schafer (“Superbook”) and Tom Bancroft (“Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King,” “Mulan”) will direct the film, with Tony Bancroft (“Mulan,” “Mary Poppins Returns,” “Space Jam: A New Legacy”) serving as animation director.

“For a long time, we’ve dreamt of telling the story of Jesus in a way that’s never been done before,” says Matt McPherson,executive producer of “Light of the World” and founder of The Salvation Poem Project, “and we believe this film achieves just that.”

A Story Through Young John’s Eyes

Set in 30 AD, the film follows a young John, the Apostle, as he witnesses the arrival of a long-awaited Messiah – Jesus.Though Jesus isn’t quite what everyone expected, an undeniable power and grace radiate from him, drawing John and others, including James, Andrew, and Peter, to join him on an extraordinary adventure.

“Light of the World” beautifully captures the essence of Jesus’ ministry, from its humble beginnings to his crucifixion and glorious resurrection. Narrated through John’s perspective, the film promises a powerful and intimate look at how Jesus transformed the world forever, with a message that continues to resonate today.
