Orlando Magic Players Swap Places With Southwest Employees
So you’ve had a great time in Orlando. You got to hang out with Mickey and enjoy the great weather. Now it’s time to head to the Orlando airport and catch your flight at gate 123 back to Austin, TX. You get to the gate and what do you see? The Orlando Magic Cheerleaders, their mascot, Stuff, and Magic players Elfrid Peyton and Aaron Gordon.
For the third year, the Magic have teamed up with Southwest Airlines to swap jobs with their employees. On Wednesday’s Magic game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Southwest employees were on hand to help hype up the crowd, fly the Southwest Blimp, and see how the Magic did their jobs.
Now it was the team’s turn. The players joined forces with Southwest Airlines employees to work the scheduled flights, direct the aircraft to the terminal, assist customers at the gate podium, helped load bags into the aircraft, assist with flight safety and hand out snacks and souvenirs. Gordon and Payton even got a chance to go in the cockpit to learn the job of a pilot.
“It was really fun, really amazing, so many buttons in there,” Payton said with a smile about his great time on the plane.
It was a great opportunity for the Magic to get to meet people and Magic fans.
