Minnesota United Sign Carlos Harvey to Contract Extension Through 2028

Panamanian international rewarded for steady rise after joining from USL side Phoenix Rising

Tuesday, June 3, 2025 | MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota United FC have locked down a key midfield contributor, signing Carlos Harvey to a contract extension through the 2028 MLS season, with an option for 2029, the club announced Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Panama international joined the Loons ahead of the 2024 campaign from USL Championship side Phoenix Rising, and has since made 40 appearances across all competitions, starting 28 and notching two assists.

“Credit to the recruitment team who identified Carlos in the USL Championship — we saw not only a strong fit for the culture we’re building at Minnesota United, but also a player with valuable versatility,” said chief soccer officer and sporting director Khaled El-Ahmad. “He works hard every day to improve, and he’s in a great environment to keep developing.”

Steady Rise from USL to MLS Mainstay

Originally part of LA Galaxy from 2020–2022 (11 MLS appearances), Harvey rebuilt his form in the USL before getting a second shot at MLS with Minnesota. He’s since become a reliable two-way midfielder known for his defensive work rate and physical presence.

“I’ve grown a lot as a player and person,” Harvey said in the club’s official release. “I’m looking forward to what more I can achieve with the team. I also want to thank all the fans who come out and support us every game day and for making me feel at home in Minnesota.”

International Credentials

Harvey has earned 13 caps for Panama, scoring once. He’s expected to be part of Los Canaleros’ squad for the upcoming 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup this summer, continuing to add to his international experience.
