NFL Roundup: Eagles Sign QB Kyle McCord, Adam Thielen Eyes Final Season in 2025

The NFL offseason continues to ramp up with a flurry of signings, notable absences from team activities, and veteran reflections on the future. Here’s a look at the latest headlines from around the league.

Eagles Ink QB Kyle McCord, Several Draft Picks

The Philadelphia Eagles took a big step toward finalizing their rookie class by signing multiple draft picks, including sixth-round quarterback Kyle McCord (No. 181 overall). The former Ohio State and Syracuse signal-caller adds depth to a quarterback room headlined by Jalen Hurts.

Joining McCord under contract are sixth-round offensive tackle Myles Hinton (No. 191), sixth-round outside linebacker Antwaun Powell-Ryland (No. 209), and fifth-round linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. (No. 161). The Eagles also signed nine undrafted free agents, including Florida running back Montrell Johnson Jr.

Thielen Says 2025 “Could Be” Final Season

Veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen is entering his 12th NFL season and potentially his last. Speaking to The Athletic, Thielen said 2025 “could be” his final year, though he’ll take it year by year.

“I’m going to focus on being the best football player I can possibly be,” said Thielen. “Once the season’s over, evaluate, see where we’re at as a family and figure it out.”

Thielen, who is entering the final year of his current contract, caught 103 passes for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns last season with the Carolina Panthers.

Packers Sign Draft Class, But Jaire Alexander Absent

The Green Bay Packers continued signing their rookie class, including third-round wide receiver Savion Williams (No. 87), sixth-round defensive lineman Warren Brinson (No. 198), and seventh-round cornerback Micah Robinson (No. 237). Ten undrafted free agents also joined the team, including running back Amar Johnson.

However, star cornerback Jaire Alexander was notably absent from voluntary workouts. Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed his absence but offered little detail, only saying, “We’re trying to work through it.” Alexander has been the subject of trade rumors this offseason.

Raiders Announce Jersey Numbers, Rookie Signings

The Las Vegas Raiders revealed jersey numbers for their rookie class. First-round running back Ashton Jeanty will wear No. 2, the same number he donned at Boise State.

Additional signings included first-round offensive lineman Tyler Booker (No. 12 overall), who became the first Round 1 pick in the league to sign his rookie deal. The Raiders also signed defensive tackles Jay Toia (No. 217) and Tommy Akingbesote (No. 247), seventh-round running back Phil Mafah (No. 239), and sixth-round offensive tackle Ajani Cornelius (No. 204).

Cowboys and Others Bolster Depth with UDFAs

Wide receiver Josh Kelly was one of nine undrafted free agents signed by the Dallas Cowboys, while linebacker Shemar James (Round 5, No. 16) and cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. (Round 3, No. 76) highlighted their draft signings.

As rookie minicamps approach, teams across the league are solidifying their rosters and assessing both veteran and rookie talent heading into summer.
