Messi Claims Back-to-Back Goal of the Matchday Honors with Stunning Strike

Lionel Messi continues to dazzle Major League Soccer.

The Inter Miami CF superstar has won his second consecutive AT&T Goal of the Matchday award, earning the Matchday 16 honors with a commanding 53.6% of the fan vote.

Messi’s latest masterpiece came in the 27th minute of Miami’s 4-2 comeback win over CF Montréal. Picking up the ball in space, the reigning Landon Donovan MLS MVP unleashed a curling long-range shot that flew past Montréal goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois and into the back of the net. The goal opened the scoring at Chase Stadium and set the tone for a dominant performance.

The Argentine legend finished the night with 2 goals and 1 assist, also earning his first MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob Ultra honor of the 2025 season.

Fan Vote Results – Matchday 16:

2nd Place – Bartosz Slisz (37.6%)
Slisz ignited Atlanta United’s thrilling 3-2 win over Orlando City with a clean, one-time finish that tucked inside the post past a diving Pedro Gallese.

3rd Place – Mohammed Sofo (4.7%)
Sofo kept his scoring streak alive with a clever flicked finish into the far post, helping the New York Red Bulls defeat Charlotte FC 4-2.

4th Place – Gabriel Pirani (4.1%)
Pirani salvaged a 1-1 draw for D.C. United with a laser strike just under the crossbar against the New England Revolution.

With another wondergoal added to his growing MLS highlight reel, Messi continues to elevate Inter Miami—and the league—with each passing week.
