Viktor Hovland Overcomes Freak Injury, Eager to Reignite Season at The Sentry
Viktor Hovland’s start to the 2025 PGA Tour season took an unexpected turn when he suffered a bizarre toe injury in his bedroom just days before The Sentry. Despite the setback, Hovland is determined to compete and put the incident behind him.
The Norwegian golfer, known for his powerful swing and consistent performance, is eager to return to competitive play after a four-month break. During his time away from the tour, Hovland focused on refining his swing and recovering from a wrist injury.
Hovland’s enthusiasm for the new season was evident as he prepared for The Sentry, an event he sees as an opportunity to build momentum for the year ahead. However, his plans were briefly derailed by the freak accident.
Despite the discomfort caused by the injury, Hovland remains optimistic. He has been seen practicing at the Plantation Course at Kapalua, albeit with a noticeable limp. With the aid of taping and painkillers, Hovland is confident he can manage the pain and compete at a high level.
“I think the walk is going to be the toughest part this week,” Hovland admitted, acknowledging the challenging terrain of the Plantation Course. However, he emphasized that his swing feels strong and that he is eager to get back into the swing of things.
