Defending Champion Matthieu Pavon Headlines 2025 Farmers Insurance Open

LA JOLLA, Calif.  — The 2025 Farmers Insurance Open is set to return to the iconic Torrey Pines Golf Course from Jan. 22-25, bringing together some of the world’s best golfers for the PGA Tour’s annual stop in Southern California. With a unique Wednesday-through-Saturday schedule to avoid conflict with the NFL’s conference championships, the tournament promises an exciting four days of golf against the picturesque backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.

Defending champion Matthieu Pavon will look to repeat his success after his 13-under-par performance secured the title last year. He will be joined by a star-studded field that includes Collin Morikawa, Tony Finau, Max Homa, and Will Zalatoris.

“We’re thrilled to welcome such an outstanding roster of players to Torrey Pines,” said tournament director Marty Gorsich. “This event is a highlight of the PGA Tour calendar, and we’re looking forward to another memorable week of golf.”

Course Challenges
The tournament will once again utilize both the North and South Courses during the first two rounds, with the final two rounds played exclusively on the more demanding South Course. Known for its narrow fairways, deep rough, and small Poa annua greens, the South Course measures 7,765 yards and is considered one of the most challenging on the PGA Tour.

The North Course, at 7,258 yards, offers a more forgiving layout but still requires precision and strategy to post a competitive score.

Tournament Details
The total purse for the event is $9.3 million, with $1.674 million awarded to the winner. Players will compete under challenging conditions, as Torrey Pines is famous for its coastal winds and dramatic elevation changes.

Field Highlights
In addition to Pavon, other notable players include rising stars Akshay Bhatia and Sahith Theegala, as well as veterans Keegan Bradley and Shane Lowry. Swedish sensation Ludvig Åberg, fresh off a strong start to the season, is also among the favorites.

Broadcast Coverage
The Farmers Insurance Open will be televised live on Golf Channel, beginning Wednesday at 3 p.m. EST. Fans can also stream coverage via the PGA Tour’s digital platforms.

As the tournament marks the start of the PGA Tour’s California Swing, all eyes will be on Torrey Pines to see who will rise to the occasion and etch their name into the storied history of the Farmers Insurance Open.
