Quarterback Baker Mayfield, wide receiver Mike Evans, and the rest of the squad were back in action at One Buc Place, battling the near-90-degree Florida heat.
“For us, the first day in pads, you know it’s going to be hot, and they’re going to be a little drained,” said head coach Todd Bowles. “So, we wanted to give them a little extra rest. But we still had a productive practice. The indoor facility tomorrow will give them more time to recover.”
The Bucs will continue their training camp on Tuesday inside their climate-controlled facility, providing relief from the Florida heat.
Following a successful 2023 season, both Coach Bowles and players have expressed increased confidence in the team’s abilities heading into the new year.

Tristan Wirfs remains in contract negotiations with the Buccaneers and reports that a deal is close. However, he opted to be a limited participant in practice today. While he took part in individual drills, Wirfs and Coach Bowles agreed it was best for him to observe the more physical team drills as a precaution until his contract is finalized.

The Buccaneers continue to refine their play and eliminate early camp mistakes as they prepare for their preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on August 10th.
