Issa Rae Signs Mega, Eight-Figure Film And TV Deal With WarnerMedia
Issa Rae has re-upped with WarnerMedia. The company has announced a five-year overall deal with Rae, extending their relationship with the Emmy-nominated creator and star of Insecure, which expands the first-look HBO deal she initially signed in 2016 and re-upped for the first time in 2018.
This new deal, which Variety says is in the eight-figure range is exclusive to WarnerMedia for all forms of television, including. HBO, HBO Max and Warner Bros. Television. It also includes film, where the exclusivity is for features with Warner Bros. Pictures Group, New Line and HBO Max. These projects will be developed with Rae’s media company, HOORAE.
“We have been in business with Issa for more than eight years, and we couldn’t be prouder of our collaboration,” said Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer for HBO and HBO Max. “‘Insecure’ was a breakthrough series for HBO, and there is much more on the horizon. This new deal is an opportunity to leverage the strength of WarnerMedia to provide a multitude of platforms for Issa’s formidable talents as a producer and storyteller.”
