Sounders Clinch Spot in Next Round With 3-0 Win Over Whitecaps

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – The Seattle Sounders had no problem defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0 on Sunday night at the MLS is Back Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World.

Seattle had a solid outing as Nicolas Lodeiro and Jordan Morris each had a goal and an assist for them in the match, and Raul Ruidiaz added another in the second-half.

In the 16th minute, a Morris blast caromed off the hand of Vancouver defenseman Jasser Khmiri, prompting a yellow card and a penalty kick.

Lodeiro took the kick in the 16th minute and easily sent the left-footed shot into the lower left corner of the net as Whitecaps goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau went in the other direction.

Morris scored with a solid drive in the box, pushing through the Whitecaps defense for a right heel kick ins the goal. He made it look easy.

In the 51st minute, Ruidiaz put in the third goal off of a corner kick, providing insurance for the Sounders.

Vancouver has yet to win a match in the tournament and is pretty much done. They do have a long shot at making the third place matches if they score several goals in the Chicago match. Vancouver have now conceded five goals unanswered after letting a two-goal lead slip away in a 4-3 loss to San Jose back on Wednesday.
