Gawvi The Producer, Now Gawvi The Artist
The man behind the sounds of Andy Mineo’s Reach Record’s project “Uncomfortable” (Billboard Top 200) or Lacrae’s Grammy winning “Anomaly” album has emerged from behind the boards to move on the the next phase of his career. The Rodney Jerkins and Pharell trained producer has signed with reach Records as an artist.
“I want to shift culture with music that has meaning and positive vibes. The music I’ll be putting out has a very worldwide sound and I know people are going to enjoy it.”
Gawvi’s new project is “Lost In Hue” with it’s lead single “Late Night” debuted on July 20th. The king of Christian Hip-Hop producing is coming at us…as a solo dance artist. And “Late Night” is the proof that he know’s what he’s doing.
The track starts off with the usual, spacious percussive chords, pulsing over a low key vocal. The Vocal has the usual Gawvi rhythmic bounce, giving way to a electro dance high hat and clap, letting you know where he’s going next. This opens into a full blown pounding 2-step dance beat with rhythmic sample play. Gawvi definitely knows the style, as he drops the beat to a spacious echo, starting the build up all over again, finally ending with a tight trap beat with the same vocal hook lines.
With the quality and danceability of “Late Night”, we can’t wait to hear what his EP “Lost In Hue” will bring on July 29th. Gawvi also plans to release more music this fall.
