Teal Pumpkin Project Promotes Candy Free Halloween
It’s not what you think. the Teal Pumpkin Project in Long Island New York is an initiative for a candy free Halloween. The reason for the non-sugary project is for ghosts and goblins who have food allergies. Homeowners are encouraged to offer non-candy substitutes such as stickers or toys or glow sticks. These homes place teal colored pumpkins outside of their homes.
The campaign, launched last year by Food Allergy Research and Education, had participants in 50 states and seven countries. The goal this year is to have 100,000 participants.
