The “Taxis” are magnetically cars that will glide about 30 feet from the ground similar to monorails. The California base company will debut a pilot or test project in Tel Aviv on October 2015. The Israel Aerospace industries partnered with SkyTran to develop these cars.
SkyTran cost just about $8 million per kilometer and each car cost about $25,,000. According to Jerry Sanders, the CEO of SkyTran “Underground systems can cost anywhere between $100 million and $2 billion a kilometer.”
