‘Better Call Saul’ Creators Confirm Walt And Jesse Won’t Appear In Season 1
Warning: You are about to experience severe heartbreak and sadness.
For months upon months “Breaking Bad” fans speculated whether or not the beloved Walter White and Jesse Pinkman would appear in Vince Gilligan’s spin-off prequel series “Better Call Saul.” Aaron Paul gave us mixed answers when we asked the actor last year about Jesse returning, and a Walt cameo has gone from a possibility to a likely no. But now Gilligan and co-creator Peter Gould have put the rumors and speculation to rest.
“In the spirit of full disclosure, Walt and Jesse will not appear in Season 1,” Gould said at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour on Saturday. But on the positive side, Gould said they’re not completely ruling it out and that all other “Breaking Bad” characters have potential to pop up in the new series. Gilligan added that ideally they’d love to have everyone show up eventually, but that it would have to feel natural. “The intention is it will feel proper and organic, because if it feels like a stunt then something has gone terribly wrong in the writers’ room,” he said during the panel.
AMC also released an extended promo for “Better Call Saul” on Saturday to give fans a taste of the new series. Check out the two-minute trailer above, but feel free to cry out all the disappointment over Jesse and Walt.
